浮沈子（ふちんし）とは、浮力の原理を実験するための装置のこと。
科学センターで日本語でこの実験をした。
家に帰ってきて、英語でも実験してみた。
原理は一度学んだことなので、英語でやってみても、わからないことはさほどなく、
(単語は調べたけど）、楽しく出来た。
浮沈子は英語でCartesian Diver。
Cartesian Diver Experiment
＜Tool&Materials＞
* A plastic fizzy-drink bottle
*Water
*1 soy sauce packet
*A plastic cup
*1 nut
1,Put a nut on the mouth of the soy sauce packet.
(うちでは、浮いたり沈んだりしているのがわかりやすいように、
しょうゆ入れを油性ペンで色付けした。)
2,Fill the cup with water.
3,Push the body of the soy sauce packet and put water in it.
4,Place the sauce packet in the cup to see if it will float.
You will need the packet that just barely float.
（魚のしっぽが少し浮いて見えるくらいがベスト）
5,Fill the bottle to the brim with water,
put the sauce packet in the bottle and screw the cap on tight.
6,Squeeze the sides of the bottle.
What happens?
If you squeeze the sides of the bottle,the diver should sink.
If you stop squeezing, the diver should float back to the top of the bottle.
ボトルを押すと魚は沈み、放すと上に上がってくる。
＜Behind the Experiment＞
When you squeeze the outside of the bottle, you increase the pressure inside the bottle.
This will compress the air inside the packet.
When the air is compressed,the density of the packet will be greater than the density of
the water in the bottle,and the packet will sink.
When you release the pressure on the outside of the bottle, the air in the packet will expand,
inceasing the buoyancy of the packet,and the packet will rise to the top.
＜原理の説明＞
ペットボトルを強く押すと、しょうゆ入れのおなかに水が入ってくる。
水は縮まらず、空気だけが縮まって、しょうゆ入れは重くなる。
水に浮く力を浮力と言う。
空気の変わりに水の入ったしょうゆ入れは、浮力が小さくなり沈む。
さかなの浮き袋や潜水艦もこういったしくみになっているそうだ。
（注）用意するもので、しょうゆ入れは一つだったけど、
何個でも入れて実験することは出来る。
しょうゆ入れに入れる水の量を変えると、沈んだり、上がってくる時間が変化する。
魚を2つ、3つにして、この実験を同時にすると違いがわかる。
ペットボトルは必ず、炭酸飲料が入っていたボトル、円筒形のものを使うこと。
＜理由＞
この実験では圧力を均等にかける必要があるので、
それには炭酸が入っていた円筒形のボトルが適しているから。
つまり、炭酸入りのボトルはきちんと理由が合って、円筒形なのだ！
炭酸飲料には炭酸ガスが入っており、
ペットボトルに内側から押し広げようとする力がある。
円筒形だと均一に圧力がかかる→（内部からの）圧力にも耐えられる。
もし、容器が四角柱だとしたら角に当たる部分に大きな力が加わり、
そしてそこは構造的にも弱い場所なので、破裂する可能性がある。
こんな身近なことにも、科学の原理が応用されているんなんて、すごいよね？！
